It is rare that diverse businesses come together to advocate for the larger issues that impact the total community including the business climate and economic health of Douglas County. Creating a cohesive and proactive voice that achieves real results for all businesses is a key component of Council's mission.
Mission
The Mission of the Business Council of Douglas County is to assemble, organize and coordinate the talents and resources of the business and professional leaders of Douglas County for the purpose of assisting the public sector in the identification, examination and successful resolution of area wide issues.
Our membership is intentionally diverse to assure that no one special interest group dominates and that it represents Douglas County Business Leadership. The Council’s purpose is not to attract new business although we assist those sister agencies, but on ensuring the climate in Douglas County is conducive to economic diversification and that the fiscal policy is sound and cost effective, as understood by the businesses that locate and thrive here. In working with leadership, our process allows for thoughtful community decision rather than defensive reaction.
Council members support the backbone of Douglas County. Private-sector business all providing jobs and prosperity that our families and community depend on. Members of the Business Council are in good company and in good hands. The members represent the diverse economy of Douglas County and all members serve with responsibility. It’s the responsibility of working with other employers to ensure the positive climate for all businesses and its citizens. They join forces with entrepreneurial talent, building and supporting a highly educated workforce and high-tech companies while enjoying the location advantages and the natural resources that can add up to success in the new economy.
The members of the Council contribute millions of dollars in tax revenue annually to the locally economy and account for thousands of jobs in Douglas County. Business climates can change frequently. The Council is strong in public relations and a source of information for the entire business community.
